Richie’s 10K Run 2012

Event Information

Richie's 10K Run takes place in Helensburgh on Sunday 8th April 2012 at 09:30. We offer the chance for you to assess how your winter training has progressed and how your fitness levels are for the forthcoming 10K, half and full marathons. It is a fairly flat, fast course meandering around west Helensburgh and the picturesque village of nearby Rhu. There will be a commemorative t-shirt and goody bag for all finishers. Pre entry by

Thursday 5th April 2012 with a limit of 500. £12 for SAF members/£14 for non-SAF members. If online entries do not sell out, entry on the day will be available for an additional £2. The minimum age for entry is 16 on the date of the race. The race is run in accordance with Scottish Athletics who have issued a permit for this race.

Registration and Changing

Registration is at Helensburgh Swimming Pool. Race numbers will be issued at registration which will take place from 07:30. If the event does not sell out in advance, on the day entry will be from 07:30. Registration will close at 09:15. Changing and toilet facilities are available within the swimming pool. The Pool Manager has asked that lockers are left free for patrons of the swimming pool. We ask that you remove all bags etc. and take them back to your vehicles. please note: the start area is approx. 3/4 mile from the registration area. please give yourself enough time to get to the start!!

Chip Timing

Chip timing will be in place for this event. This means an accurate and fast result of your start to finish time. Timing chips will be issued at registration and retrieved at the end of the race. A £5 surcharge will be incurred for non-return of timing chips.

Getting Here and Parking

The postcode for Helensburgh Swimming Pool is G84 8SQ. If travelling by car, please use Helensburgh Pier Car Park. This is adjacent to the Pool and provides ample parking.

Helensburgh is situated on the A814 and is well signposted from the A82 and Dumbarton. Trains travel from Queen Street Lower Level Station to Helensburgh Station, which is a 5 minute walk from the swimming pool. 

Course

Starting opposite Kidston Park and finishing at Helensburgh Swimming Pool, the 10K is run entirely on tarmac paths and pavements. The course is open to traffic and we ask that you take care when crossing junctions. The route will be marshalled, and we ask that you obey the marshal's instructions at all times. The course is generally flat, with the one incline, but nothing too troubling!!. A course map can be seen above.

Prizes

Prizegiving will take place at 10:30 at Helensburgh Swimming Pool. The prizes are:

1st place male and female - £50 Run-4-It vouchers

2nd place male and female - £30 Run-4-It vouchers

3rd place male and female - £15 Run-4-It vouchers

Spot prizes will be awarded to selected finishers. 

Refreshments

Free tea/coffee will be available to all runners and spectators at the finish area.
